She has participated in plastic arts competitions and in collective and individual exhibitions as well. She currently works and is dedicated to her creative activity in her studio in the city of Bratislava, Slovakia, where she carried out her artistic quest, based on the compositions inspired by the weather and chromatic consonance between Asturias and Slovakia. Recently, she has created a series of new paintings on light, color, and life forms of the months of the year.

María Jesús Rivero’s professional career path has been driven on by and directed at art. She is a mighty proud Asturian born Granadine (Spain) with a universal spirit. Painting has become a passion that she wants to share with anyone with a proclivity for it. Many people alike have been motivated in her painting workshops.

„In her late work the abstract background is tempered with Figurativism; it could be said that some of her paintings tend to Surrealism and fantastic cosmovision; notwithstanding, most of María Jesús’ work can be considered figurative within the domain of Magic Realism with some reminiscences of Impressionism.“

Ricardo G. Galicia. Art Historian (Mexico)

„Spanish artist María Jesús Rivero introduced at the symposium her own and original version of figurative art and in order not to make things too simplifying, we could talk about some kind of a new variation of a Spanish mysticism or metaphysical realism, if such thing exists. Either way, the author is shaping her sacred figures from a material of paste-like colour in strictly narrowed monochromatic composition, consisting of blue hues and pierced with a beam of light, spirit, blessing. The passion of darkness and light is outweighed by some kind of pre-Raphael sentiment.“
